Indonesia gets hit by 6.5 magnitude earthquake
The tremor occurred approximately 120 miles from Abepura in Papua province at around 0548 GMT, with the epicenter located 21 miles below the surface.
Indonesia’s geophysics agency, BMKG, reported a slightly higher magnitude of 6.8 for the quake.
There have been no immediate reports of damage in Abepura, a city with a population exceeding 60,000 residents.
